TubeGen vs TubeLab
A niche-research and outlier-discovery platform against a full video-production pipeline. One decides what to make; the other makes it.
The verdict
TubeLab is dedicated research tooling: it scans 400K+ channels and 4M+ outlier videos to find niches, breakout channels, and proven title patterns, then stops. TubeGen also finds niches with its own Niche Finder, then takes them through script, voiceover, visuals, thumbnail, and export to a finished video. Pick TubeLab for research depth, TubeGen to actually publish, from $149/mo or less on a Build Your Own plan. Many creators use both.
Head to head
Six Dimensions That Actually Matter
The honest read on each tool, dimension by dimension.
Research and niche discovery
This is TubeLab's core and its strongest genuine claim. The Niche Finder scans 400K+ channels to surface rising and breakout channels, updated daily, and TubeLab says it has scanned 400M+ public videos to curate its outlier library. The Outliers Finder flags viral videos with 20+ filters, including RPM estimations, a faceless-potential filter, and 5x/10x/25x/50x performance multipliers. RPM and revenue figures are estimates.
TubeGen includes a Niche Finder for niche research, verified as a $33/mo Build-Your-Own add-on and included in the full plans. It is not an outlier database and does not publish per-channel RPM or monetization analytics. Research is a starting point for production, not the product itself.
Content creation pipeline
None. TubeLab does not generate scripts, images, animation, characters, or edited videos. It generates research-stage ideas (titles, video concepts) from proven data; it does not create content.
This is the wedge. TubeGen writes the script (3,000/10,000/20,000 words on Starter/Pro/Premium, up to 20,000 on Premium, about two hours of narration), generates AI images with custom art styles (saved 2/10/20 by tier), animation (1 min/10 min/unlimited per video), consistent characters, AI avatars (30s/2min/unlimited), and Storyblocks stock B-roll.
Audio and voiceover
None. There is no voiceover, text-to-speech, or music feature.
Voiceover in 8 languages, with voice clones gated 0/3/10 on Starter/Pro/Premium, plus AI-composed original soundtracks scored to the voiceover.
Publishing: thumbnail, editor, description
None for creation. Trending Formats shows which formats and titles are pulling views so you can model winners, but TubeLab does not create thumbnails, edit or export video, or write descriptions.
A thumbnail studio creates thumbnails with built-in A/B testing, a built-in editor imports and exports up to 30 minutes (longer videos render via the assets folder, the editor's import/export limit, not a cap on finished length), and a description writer produces the metadata. TubeGen also includes a video course (12+ modules, about 3 hours).
Pricing and free access
One paid plan: $29/mo billed monthly, or $14.90/mo billed annually ($178.80/yr, 49% off). The web platform has no free tier and no free trial (TubeLab's own comparison article states no free trial is offered). The only free product is the YouTube Monetization & RPM Checker Chrome extension ($0, no card).
Plans start at Starter $149/mo (33,000 credits), then Pro $297/mo, Premium $849/mo, Enterprise custom, billed monthly or over 6 months (Save 20%). A Build-Your-Own plan adds à-la-carte tools like Niche Finder at $33/mo. TubeGen does not offer refunds; its product demo on the features page shows the tools first. It is priced as a production suite, TubeLab as a research subscription.
In TubeGen, not in TubeLab
The entire production pipeline TubeLab's research stops short of.
- AI scriptwriter (to 20,000 words)
- AI voiceover in 8 languages
- AI image / visual generation
- Animation (to unlimited per video)
- Stock B-roll (Storyblocks)
- Consistent characters + AI avatars
- Thumbnail creation + A/B testing
- Built-in editor + export
- Description writer
Honesty block
Where TubeLab genuinely wins
- Deepest live research data: 400K+ channels and 4M+ outliers, updated daily
- Real-time breakout discovery with 20+ filters and 5x to 50x multipliers
- Monetization / RPM intelligence and a faceless-potential filter
- A free Chrome extension and a low annual entry at $14.90/mo
Research is TubeLab's strongest genuine claim, and its outlier database, RPM signals, and low annual entry are a real edge. TubeGen has a Niche Finder too, but it is not an outlier database and does not publish per-channel RPM analytics.

Use Both, or Consolidate
The common setup
Use both
Use TubeLab to find the niche, validate outliers, read RPM signals, and pull proven title patterns, then use TubeGen to script, voice, illustrate, animate, thumbnail, edit, and export. TubeLab's $14.90/mo annual entry pairs with TubeGen Starter at $149/mo.
Research only
Stay on TubeLab
If you only need research and hand production to editors elsewhere, TubeLab's outlier data and low annual price do that job well.
Production only
Switch to TubeGen
When your bottleneck is producing videos, not finding ideas, TubeGen turns a niche into a finished video without hopping apps.
